Executive Director

Mrs. Jennifer Cappelli

Mrs. Jennifer has a passion for developing a lifelong love of learning among the students that she serves and believes that students need a balanced educational experience. After receiving her Master's of Education in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, Ms. Jennifer served as a teacher, Science Instructional Coach, and Administrator in Atlanta Public Schools for over a decade. She is excited to support the leadership team at Montessori Academy of Decatur and bring a world class educational experience to your children every day.

Director

Ms. Angie Yonzon

Ms. Angie Yonzon moved to America from India in 2001. Her Montessori journey started on a visit to a Montessori school that her nephew attended and she thought it was absolutely amazing to watch the children work at their own pace and to witness a large classroom of children be so calm and focused on their work. Ms. Angie soon started her Infant/Toddler Montessori training and has been a Montessorian for more than 10 years. Ms. Angie strives to create a safe, kind and encouraging environment in the Montessori Academy of Decatur community with her passion for Montessori and dual language education.

Infant Guide

Ms. Karen

Ms. Karen is a dedicated and experienced professional with a passion for nurturing the growth and development of infants as they begin to explore the world. She is the Lead Infant Guide at Montessori Academy, to which she brings 10 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of North Georgia and has completed her MTEI Montessori training for ages birth through 3 years old. Her qualifications provide her with valuable skills and insights into working with young children.

Infant Guide

Ms. Parham

Hi families, I am Akilah Parham. You can call me Ms. Parham. I am a nurturer at heart and an educator by gifting. I live by the play to learn method. A lot of smiles, drama and excitement as we disguise our practical life learning methods in our everyday fun activities! Identifying each scholars strengths and weaknesses, I guide them on how grow and master their work. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant with over 14yrs of experience. Specializing with special needs and disabled children as well as adults. I will soon hold a Child Developmental Associates, and start my Montessori training in March of 2024. I am eager to learn and grow a relationship with each of you! We are all apart of each scholars village!

Toddler Guide

Ms. Megan

Ms. Megan has been a Montessorian for 10 years and is an Infant/Toddler certified Guide. She holds a Masters in Montessori Education from Loyola University, Maryland, and was infant/toddler trained from a MACTE accredited organization. Ms. Megan has proudly served the country and is an army veteran and enjoys playing rugby. She recently moved to Georgia with her wife and 3 kids. They have a variety of pets - dogs. cats and reptiles. She loves to read, listen to podcasts and *try* to play rugby for fun in her spare time.

Lead Primary Guide

Ms. Jessie

Ms. Jessie is originally from China and relocated to the United States in 2023! She is a certified Primary AMS guide and has worked as a Montessori Guide for 19 years. Ms. Jessie loves children and feels privileged to be a part of their growth and development. Ms. Jessie is excited to work in partnership with families to ensure the best educational experience for the children of Montessori Academy of Decatur!

Montessori Consultant

Ms. Lilian Bryan

Ms. Lilian Bryan is internationally renowned for her 60 years of working with children, teacher training, school consulting and parent education. Her expertise has focused on children under the age of six years and she holds the coveted Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diplomas for child development: ages birth to 3 years, and 3 – 6 years.

We are fortunate to have Ms. Bryan at Montessori Academy to assist staff and children to implement the Montessori philosophy and practice in the classroom. She has delighted our parents with her mini workshops to help them apply the effective Montessori approach in the home. Ms. Bryan is also available to meet with individual parents, upon request.
